New analysis: Rohingya refugee camp density in Cox’s Bazar
In August 2023, I analysed the density problem in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar. A new 2026 follow-up article now shows how population growth, limited decongestion, ageing infrastructure and rising protection risks have further increased the pressure on the camp system.
The article includes a density interpolation map based on the 2023 camp density map, projected to June 2026, and discusses why Bhasan Char remains a potential but limited decongestion option.
